The Little Woman - by Gladys Aylward and Christine Hunter (This is an inspirational story that is a must read for this unit. If your children are too young to read it by themselves you could make it a family read aloud)

David Livingstone - Sower Series
Be sure to include these very humorous books about the adventures and mishaps of 'Rani' (Ron Snell) as he grew up in the jungles of Peru. Both of his parents were Bible translators for Wycliffe. We read these aloud and learned about the native people, animals, jungle and Bible translation. Our family laughed out loud at the many funny moments that 'Rani' enjoyed. These are a must read for this unit

If your church supports a missionary, have your child write a letter to that family (or individual).

Read a biography about a missionary and write a book report.

Write a missions organization a letter requesting information.

International Museum of Cultures - Dallas, Texas

Dinner Theatre (presented by Wycliffe Bible Translators) - available in the NW states.

Check your local area for a museum or exhibit that could be used with this study.
PROJECTS

Plan and cook an international meal from The Wycliffe International Cookbook - Gaylyn and Terry Whalin or try the International Recipes site or SOAR International Recipes.

If you don't already, pray for a missionary family or organization each day of this study. (And you don't have to stop after the unit is over!)

Unreached People Collage - cut out pictures of different ethnic groups from magazines (National Geographic would be great for this project). Glue them on posterboard. Select and write scriptures on the posterboard.
